It’s free! All you have to do is register to post your “Destination”. Even if it’s not a “Destination”, you fly to, if you think it’s an interesting flight story, audio or video, post it in the “Aviation Grab Bag” category.
What is “Destinations?”
“Destinations!” is a place where pilots can blog about the places they’ve been, the flights they’ve taken and the things they’ve done at the other end of a flight. It’s a way of sharing your experiences and giving other folks ideas about places they can go for a $100 hamburger or vacation or just something to do!
Promoting places like restaurants and hotels and other businesses is completely acceptable…after all, aren’t those the places you really want to know about? A couple hundred words describing your trip, what you did and the experience you had can be a great help to other folks who might make that same trip. Include links to sources of information, online menus or hours of operation. Don’t forget pictures!
Post Your Events on our Calendar
Over to the left, there’s a little calendar. By registering as a Subscriber, you will be able to add your aviation event to the Calendar.
Fly-Inns, Poker Runs, Special Events, whatever you can think of! Simply click on “Register”, and you’ll be able to add your event. When adding events to the Calendar, you’ll also be able to select whether you want the events to appear as Posts on our Destinations! Blog.
Our only requirement is that your event be aviation related, and of course we reserve the right to remove anything we feel does not meet our simple criteria.
So, register today! It’s free!
Bazil restaurant is located on the Southern tip of Irondequoit Bay, just east of Rochester, NY. Why is that so special? Well, Irondequoit Bay is 3 miles long, and serves as a perfect landing location for float planes.
In fact, there are 4 docking locations for float plane pilots to tie up while they’re enjoying dinner. There is no fee to tie up if you have dinner there.
You can see that it’s really just a few steps from the edge of the water to the restaurant, perfect for making it a preferred eating destination for float plane pilots.
The Wings of Eagles National Warplane Museum is located at Elmira-Corning Regional Airport. Boasting a collection of around 40 aircraft and other items, it is possible to taxi just about right up to the building. So it makes a great fly-to destination.
Ranging from an airworty Boeing Stearman….
To a Douglans R4D/C-47 that is currently being restored to flight status, it’s a wide variety with something to suit everyone’s interest.
(For those who aren’t all that interested, there’s a huge shopping mall just a short cab ride away.)
