Jean Bonnet Tavern - Haunted?
An inquiry made on the forums of a popular GA site as to a good place to stop on a trip from Upstate NY to Roanoke, VA turned up the Jean Bonnet Tavern, which has its roots tracing back to 1762. So we looked it up.
We found their website, www.jeanbonnettavern.com and it intrigued us, though our almost-nine year old daughter insists she is not at a point in her life where connecting with spirits is a priority. Tough!
Here’s the sunny view.
Folklore has it that it’s haunted…but what really haunts me today is the menu…it’s just a really good menu!
This picture looks pretty legitimate, I think:
The Jean Bonnet Tavern is a tavern, restaurant and Bed & Breakfast with rooms as low as $100/night. It’s about 6 miles from the Bedford County Airport (KHMZ), which makes it a great place for lunch, dinner, or an overnight.
But they do more than offer a place to sleep, eat or down a pint. The owners have made it a priority to help others who are less fortunate. By participating in the “Restaurant Olympics”, the folks from the Jean Bonnet Tavern raise money for the Special Olympics.
We’re headed that way in November. We’ll report back if we have a haunting experience!
